TURKISH COMPANY TO BUILD AIRPORT IN RUSSIA

ESTA Construction, a Turkish company operating in Russia, has secured the tender to carry out the first phase of the construction work of a new airport in Saratov, with a bid of $100 million.

As Turkey and Russia continue the normalization of bilateral ties, strained after the jet downing crisis in November 2015, economic cooperation between the two countries has also gained momentum.

Making a successful entry in the world of construction with the Krasnodar Stadium, one of Europe's most luxurious football stadiums, ESTA Construction landed the $100-million tender as the main contractor for the construction of the new airport in Saratov. The company will also build the asphalt roads, parking lots, and pavements.

ESTA Construction competed with 20 other construction companies from Turkey, Russia, Italy and the Czech Republic.

According to the terms of the tender, in addition to contracting services, the company which earned the right to build the airport is also obligated to prepare the project under a "Design and Build" scheme
